Wet Nose Wednesday

Taking in a Baron’s Game on a Wet Nose Wednesday!

Nothing says summer like baseball! I admit, I’m not much of a baseball fan, however I like to go for the atmosphere, beer (specifically Bud Light Lime), and people watching. The Birmingham Barons are a minor league team located downtown. (Fun fact, Michael Jordan used to play for the Barons from 1993-1994.) Every summer they have some kind of event where they allow fans to bring their dogs to the park! This year, there have been several “Wet Nose Wednesdays” where well behaved, leashed, dogs are allowed to come show their support for the Barons!

We love taking Kermit to games. He has fun socializing and getting attention, I get to pet lots of cute dogs and drink fruity beers, and my husband gets to watch some baseball. Win-win-win!

The Barons do a great job welcoming the dogs. Dogs are admitted for free with your ticket purchase and can go anywhere in the lower levels. For an extra $15, you can get a hot dog, and a Barons Bandana for your dog. There are water bowls stationed all around the ball bark, and games are at night so that it’s much cooler and more comfortable for those with fur (and for all of us, let’s be honest). There is even a doggie food truck, Fetch Truck, serving up dog beer, ice cream, cookies, and other treats. Kermit is a Fetch Truck regular and runs right up whenever we see it.

Each Wet Nose Wednesday sponsors a different dog rescue, where a portion of your $15 “pupgraded” ticket goes toward the charity of the night. Past Wet Nose Wednesdays have given to Birmingham Boston Terrier Rescue, Bama Bully Rescue, and the Greater Birmingham Humane Society (where we adopted Kermit)!

The final Wet Nose Wednesday of the summer is tomorrow, August 15th. The charity partnership is Children’s of Alabama. So come out for a fun night of baseball, tail wags, and a good cause!
